Prawns Fry | Kolambi Fry Recipe

Prawns fry is a quick, simple and easy starter recipe that can be made in under 30 minutes. This is a beginner & bachelor-friendly, protein-rich recipe.

Ingredients
  

To Marinate Prawns

  • 250 grams Prawns, de-shelled & de-veined
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger-Garlic Paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice OR Tamarind Juice OR Vinegar
  • Salt to taste

For Batter

  • 1 cup Rice Flour (Tandul Peeth)
  • 1 teaspoon Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/4th teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tablespoons Oil, to shallow fry

Instructions
 

  • Marinate prawns with red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice and salt. Marinate for 15 minutes.
  • For coating, in a mixing bowl, add rice flour, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well.
  • Coat the marinated prawns one by one with the rice flour and shallow fry.
  • Flip and fry on the other side until crisp.
  • Prawn fry - Kolambi fry is ready.

Notes

Prawns cook quickly so do not overcook them as they will get chewy. The cooking time of prawns depends on the size of the prawns. I used medium-sized prawns with took just 5-7 minutes to cook.
